Modeling and design of complex cooperative software

Recent technological advances have boosted multimedia and mobile computing. The application software market has seen an increasing interest in workjlow and Workgroup computing. These trends lead to a desire to build complex cooperative (mobile multimedia) application software. We propose a comprehensive software model and an interrelated set of jive graphical view types for the modeling of such complex cooperative software. A middle-out design methodology is proposed for coordinated use of the five view types, starting with a scenario-based view type called work scenario. A first version of a corresponding multi-view editor was developed. The paper will concentrate on work scenario views and give an overview about the four other view types and the methodology.
